 La Spiga’s Future of Diversity program welcomes guest chefs Osiel and Reynaldo Gastelum of Maarem, a modern Mexican fine dining project celebrating coastal cuisine and the seasonal bounty of the Pacific Northwest. For this special evening, they’ll collaborate with Mocel Mezcal, a sister-owned, small-batch mezcal brand rooted in Michoacán tradition and crafted with deep respect for heritage and sustainability. Guests will enjoy a five-course menu paired with guided tastings of Mocel’s artisanal mezcal, alongside stories that connect the food and drink to land, labor, and lineage.

Cloud Room: Recompose Presets - Death, Everyone's Doing It

We all know we’re dying—it’s just that Jan Campbell can better predict when it’ll happen to her. In fact, she’s already had her funeral and prearranged her end of life matters with Recompose—the Seattle-based pioneers of an environmental form of deathcare known as human composting. After receiving a diagnosis of stage 4B ovarian cancer in March of 2020, Jan deepened her sense of humor, purpose, and spirituality. Now she’s on a mission to share what it’s like to look death in the face and smile.

Join Jan and Laura Sullivan Cassidy (end of life doula and outreach lead at Recompose) for an interactive, conversational exploration of death awareness and life awareness. Afterall, you can’t have one without the other.

Fittingly, Recompose got some of its start working out of The Cloud Room, so we're thrilled to have them back in the space for this very special event.

@clubsandwichseattle:  Join Club Sandwich and Paysan for a lush, warm, delicious evening this coming Memorial Day at @light_sleeper_seattle!

We loved mind melding to create these dreamy sandwiches, inspired by French traditions of quality ingredients twisted with technique. We've got some special asparagus and radish pickles, a rotating selection of wines curated by Paysan, a seasonal rhubarb tartlet, and fresh bread (as always) from Club Sandwich. Wine, popcorn, and crudités will be available to order at the event.
